I own many art books. I'm an artist and an animator by trade, so I favor those sorts of art books. There will be days where I sit in my living room, a stack of them all around me, and I'll read through them for hours. So I knew, as a fan of the show's background designs specifically, that I needed to add Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo to my collection as soon as I heard of its release.I was not disappointed. In fact, The Art of Ooo has changed my expectations for art books. This book is special. It's the book I recommend to those aspiring toward an animation career regardless on if they've seen Adventure Time or not. This book is THOROUGH; it is so much more than a collection of beautiful illustrations. You get the show's origin story. You learn about the team behind the Adventure Time universe. You glimpse their studio process, their pitch bible, and even the art tests they send to prospective new recruits. I learned so much from this book. I'm STILL learning so much from this book. The Art of Ooo is huge. You won't be carrying this book with you on the train to read during your commute -- heck, it's difficult enough reading it before bed! The book is heavy, but it's overflowing with excellent information and amazing artwork. Out of my entire collection, this art book is my favorite. It'll surely become yours, too!

Awesome book. Everything you could hope for from the Adventure Time team and Pendleton Ward. Comprehensive on the creative process, other characters that Pendleton has created. Tons of artwork. Literally, nearly 5 pounds of art for your face. Even a quick glance through will provide you with tons of insight into characters and their origins, a deeper reading adds just that much more understanding to the Land of Ooo and all its awesome inhabitants. Definitely, strongly recommend.

I bought this without reading the description perhaps as well as I should have, and it has just blown my expectations out of the water.I don't like to overhype items and get expectations up, but this book really is one of the best purchases I've made in a long while. The quality is through the roof, and everything from the art itself to the behind-the-scenes and production information is just 10/10.

This is an amazing book. Not just because the book itself is HUGE, but because it is a pretty comprehensive review of what went into the making of Adventure Time. Quality images, binding, etc. I've been a fan of the series for the past few years. This book lends a great deal more "technical" depth to the series. The presence of the "brainy" underpinnings behind the show is evident in each episode, but it's really cool to actually get a look at what's "really" happening behind the scenes and why. Great book for fans of the series and those who'd like to get a closer look at what goes into the making of a series like Adventure Time.

My book was damaged. The front of the cover was torn at the bottom. The packaging was intact. Lame. The book is great though. Pretty much everything you could want to know or see about Adventure Time is here. I especially liked all of the sketches and how it included the rejected drawings and the accepted ones. It's pretty fun to imagine Finn carrying one of the reject swords or all of Marcy's outfit concepts and hair styles that we never saw. Lots of fun. There's a lot of art that you just never see in the show. It also features a lot of still by still images of some of the best scenes artistically. Like Jake stretching his body through a mesh wall. I especially like the art from the earlier episodes. You can see how it was more similar to your standard, kind of raunchy modern Cartoon Network show, and then slowly evolved into its own little universe and totally changed with time.

I cannot say enough of how great this book is. I look at it with my kids and definitely paints an amazing picture of the world of Ooo that we have fallen in love with. Don't even give this a second though and buy it already! The book is super think and bound extremely well. When you remove the dust cover jacket, the book looks as regal as any fine art book there is. The construction fully compliments the holland is a winner for sure.If you are still reading this and haven't bought it you are wasting valuable time! It a wonderful and inviting book that anyone would be ecstatic to own.

A high-quality book printed in the vibrant colors that make the show so visually engaging. Aside from the history of the show (how the show made its way onto the Cartoon Network), the creative process, and background info about the major characters (as well as cursory information about the minor ones), the book includes the drawing guide and interview "audition" given to the illustrators - so if you want to create your own fan art, you have the basics. If you are a fan of the show, this really is a "must have." And I don't say this very often.

As a huge Adventure Time fan, I had to buy this book. It's got great art work and concept art, and really neat facts about the writers, artists and characters. It's one of my favorite books I own, I love pulling it out on Sunday mornings and drink a cup of coffee and skim through.

The News under Russia's Old Regime: The Development of a Mass-Circulation Press (Princeton Legacy Library)By Louise McReynolds

In this lively account of the rise of a commercial newspaper industry in imperial Russia, Louise McReynolds explores how the mass-circulation press created a forum for popular opinion advocating political change. From the Great Reforms of Tsar Alexander II in 1855 to the Bolsheviks' shut-down of the newspapers in 1917, she chronicles the exploits of publishers and editors, writers and readers. Arguing that this prosperous industry both expressed and shaped the development of ideas among new social groups, McReynolds provides insight into the growth in Russia of a fragile pluralism characteristic of modern societies. Her discussion of the relationship between communications and politics, which draws especially on Jurgen Habermas, combines a variety of interrelated ingredients: institutional histories of major newspapers, biographical sketches of journalists, the intellectual impact of the new language of newspaper journalism, the political ramifications of public opinion under the auspices of an autocratic government. Comparing the Russian press with independent commercial newspaper industries in the United States, England, and France, McReynolds examines the extent to which Russia was evolving according to Western political and socioeconomic patterns before the Bolshevik Revolution.

Review
''Whether you are looking for a play to perform, want to spot rising talent, or just enjoy reading well-done pieces, The Best American Short Plays series is a dependable offering. The theatrical equivalent of a short story is awfully appealing after tackling another ''classic'' five-act work that you can't help thinking might have been just as good (or better) at three acts. Or two.'' --Broadway Direct
